Dr. Baptista graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry, cum laude,
at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas and earned his
M.D. at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston,
Texas. He completed his internship and residency in Internal
Medicine at The University of Texas-Houston Affiliated Hospitals.
He was elected to serve as a Chief Medical Resident for an
additional year before completing a fellowship in Cardiovascular
Medicine. He was a recipient of the Merck Clinical Fellow
Award, a National Institute of Health Fellowship Grant, and
served as Chief Cardiology Fellow.
Dr. Baptista is board certified in Internal Medicine and
Cardiovascular Disease. He has authored or co-authored several
research abstracts
and journal articles including “Comparison of Intracardiac Echocardiography Versus Transesophageal Echocardiography Guidance for Percutaneous Transcatheter Closure of Atrial Septal Defects.” He
also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine
at the University of Texas Medical School and has given lectures
in general cardiology and echocardiography to resident physicians
in training, fellows, and the general public.
His professional interests include general cardiology, echocardiography,
heart failure, lipid management, and preventative cardiology.
